PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) has added six premium train sets for four cities destination to improve services during the 2017 Eid Season.
The President Director of KAI Edi Sukmoro said by adding extra trains, the daily passengers to transport increased from 217 thousand to 28 thousand or rise 4.9 percent compared to the earlier period.
“Today, the new six train sets from PT Industri Kereta API/INKA come. So, 6.2 million passengers can be transported during the Eid season. Meanwhile, 56 percent of tickets sold out. The round-trip tickets only for D-1, D-2, and D-3,” he said in Jakarta, yesterday.
He said the trains would serve eight time a day from Jakarta-Semarang, Jakarta-Yogyakarta, Jakarta-Surabaya and Jakarta-Madiun.
“These new premium trains sold on June 14 and starts to operate today (6/15). 60 percent of back flow tickets remain due to the passengers prefer to buy it the last minutes,” he said.
PR Senior Manager of KAI for Operation Area I Jakarta, Suprapto said “The trains have eight units of the premium set with 80 seats, and two premium units for difable passengers; contains with 64 seats. In total, the train has the capacity of 768 seats every trip,” he explained.
Therefore, within a day 3.072 passenger can be transported. The facility of the train are the reclining seats, TV, and mini bar.
According to him, for KA Tawang Jaya Premium Lebaran, the trip start from June 20, 2017 (D-5). Ticket reservation available online at KAI website, KAI Access, regulated ticket agencies, and other official channels.
He urged the passengers to buy the tickets the official predetermined agencies instead of brokers.
As known, 19 extra trains would operate 27 days from June 15 (D-10) to July 11 (D+15). It means 71 trains per day would operate; formerly, it was only 52 with 12,912 seats. Now, the seats would be 43,400 per day or 1,171,800 for 27 days ahead.
Medical Facilities
PT KAI also provides Health Center posts over 93 locations with 52 doctors, 16 dentists, 2015 paramedics, and 21 non-medic who will assist the passengers in the station.
In the station, 14 ambulances, 265 wheelchairs, 262 stretchers, and 15 units of AED (Automated External Defibrillators) are available, too.
“PT KAI also provides lactation room/lactorium in 110 stations,” said Edi Sukmoro. (Ast/Pas)
